Marble surfaces
Marble is a nonfinite metamorphic rock resulting from the metamorphism of limestone, composed mostly of calcite (a crystalline form of calcium carbonate, CaCO3). Marble is more porous than granite so it would not be used for a kitchen worktop as much as granite as it may stain and is a lot more fragile.

As with granite, marble is a natural product so you should expect to find natural characteristics such as veining, colour and tone between slabs or within single slabs.

Granite surfaces
Granite is a purely natural stone that comes directly from stone quarries and is then cut into thin slabs, polished, and fabricated into countertops.
Formed by slow cooling lava deep beneath the earth's surface, Granite is a tough, coarse-grained, crystalline rock, composed mainly of feldspar and quartz. It is one of the hardest materials known to man and its natural beauty of stone adds elegance and style to any room, making it an excellent investment in your property.
You should expect to find natural characteristics such as veining (streaks of lighter crystals), variation of crystal size, colour and tone between slabs or within single slabs.
Natural features such as these add to the beauty and uniqueness of every stone. It is the combination of unique natural variations and functional durability that makes granite an ideal material for your worktops.
Granite worktops will enhance the beauty and feel of any kitchen. More importantly, they add to the functionality of your kitchen.
Granite worktops provide you with tough surfaces, they are durable and simple to keep clean. They will sustain a lifetime of hard treatment and will, with reasonable care, retain their high polish indefinitely.
